Prolific

Recently the following headline has been popping up on Thai blogs and news forums:

Thai Police Pounce on Prolific Panty Perv.  (nice alliteration, by the way)

Take a look at the picture below and you'll see the emphasis is on the word "Prolific".

In case you're wondering:

- the perpetrator had collected over 5,000 pieces of underwear over a 2 year period
- he was caught by the village headman, who happens to be a transvestite
- the village headman "is asking any women in the area who have lost underwear to come forward to inspect the panty haul and see if their undergarments are among those swiped by Mr Phanu"
- the girl on the right is Nuch looking for the G-string I bought her for Valentines Day in 2007  (Nuch just read this and asked that I tell people that I'm joking - that girl is not Nuch and I did not buy her a G-string fo V-day)

Bangkok's Newest Entrepreneur

Recently, Nuch's mother became Bangkok's newest and possibly oldest entrepreneur.  Looking for something to keep her occupied while making a few baht in the meantime, she decided to convert her land across the street from her home into a parking lot.

The narrow street that she lives on has developed rapidly in recent years and most townhouses and apartments leave little or no room for cars.  This, in conjunction with people owning more cars, creates a need for more parking lots and for people with some empty land and some free time, it's an easy source of some extra income.

Aside from actually building the parking lot - concrete, stone driveway, lights, gate, and awning, the next most part of starting a successful business is a proper merit making ceremony.  So, that's what we did last weekend.  Here are some pictures.

Parents In-Training

Nuch was cleaning our balcony the other day when she found a little present behind the air compressor.  Of all the buildings and floors of Prestige Condo one mother pigeon chose us to be the guardians of her newborn egg.  We don't even have a plant yet.

Nuch is flattered.  (the thing on the railing behind her is a big plastic crow that is supposed to scare pigeons away...)

Fortunately now and then, the mother does return, so Nuch and I don't have to take turns keeping the future, flying rat warm and incubated.

Will keep you posted....

Early Riser

I've got a weird case of delayed and reverse jet-lag from my recent trip to the UK.  The result being, I was up at 5am and had a chance to see my first Bangna Sunrise.

There's a plane taking off in this picture.

Save A Little Donkey

I'm in England this week on a business trip.  While watching reruns of Friends in my hotel room, I saw this commercial.

Apparently, it's not a Saturday Night Live skit.
