Recently, some of my Bangkok buddies decided to explore deepest darkest Thailand and flew up to Khon Kaen, a city about 2 hours north of Korat and smack in the middle of Isaan.

After work, I drove up to meet them.  Here's a look from my hotel window.

With no real reason for being there, we did what we usually do when we're together in Bangkok.  However, since we had made the effort to escape the bustle of Bangkok, we also decided to make it a politics free weekend and if anyone mentioned the name of King Orange, they had to take a shot of the local whiskey.

It was not as easy as we thought

But lessons were learned

A good evening followed by a better breakfast.

New Office Merit Making

Our Bangkok office recently moved next door, so I joined the merit making ceremony.

Emquartier Run-In

After a haircut, Nuch and I popped over to Emquartier where I saw this sign for an upcoming wine tasting.  I took a picture and flicked it over to my buddy John who had wanted to try one with me.  Turns out that he and his girlfriend were in Emquartier, so we met up at the Mr Jone's wine cellar.

So, a wine tasting next week turned into a wine and beer drinking today.

Afterwards, things were a bit fuzzy.

Just Because You Can Doesn't Mean You Should

I saw these signs pop recently along the road to Korat.  I knew they were selling something related to a cow, but I wasn't sure what.  I had my suspicions, but I couldn't be certain - and there's no way that anybody would want to eat that...

Turns out they do.  After speaking with some co-workers, apparently, some people do want to eat calf placentas and cow utters.
