Lost Dog - Naked

I saw this on a Thai website - there's a good chance that this sign holds the Guinness record for the largest missing dog poster.

But what makes it funny and what makes all those years learning to read Thai worthwhile is that the owner felt it necessary to say that the dog wasn't wearing a shirt when it went missing.

Tis The Season...

to shoot someone in the face with an arctic cold stream of water from an industral-sized Super Soaker.

You know Songkran is just around the corner when the flowered shirts start to go on sale.

No idea how these ants got into this sealed jar of q tips - not to mention why they want to be there

Feline Friend

There is still some paper work to be completed, but we are in the process of being adopted by a generous cat, who is kind enough to let us live in its home.

Deluxe Suite

Got a bit of a shock today when I walked into my hotel room and there was a full sized bar next to the door and a staircase in the middle of the room.
Check In went normally, so I was either secretly upgraded or I got a really good deal.

5 Lao Chicken

There's a grilled chicken stand called 5 Lao ("Lao" meaning the country Laos) near our new place that gave Nuch and I a good chuckle. It looks like any other chicken stand, but the owner has given it a clever name to draw attention.

5 Lao is a play on words because the most famous chicken stand, which can be found on most street corners throughout Thailand including the corner next to 5 Lao, is called 5 Star Chicken. Star in Thai is pronounced "dao", so you have 5 Lao instead of 5 Dao.

This is also funny because anything described as Lao or being from Laos is considered 2nd rate at best. It's a self-deprecating humor and appreciated by the large number of Thais in this part of town from Northeast Thailand, who through their dialect and local culture probably have more in common with the Laos people than they do with Bangkokians.
