Every Inch Helps

These cars were parked at Nuch's mother's parking lot.  I actually thought about doing something similar with my car if the flood ever made it to our neck of the woods.

Last Defense

I stopped by Carl's house the other day.  Along with putting sealant around the doors going into his house, he bought a baby pool as a last defense to save the piano.

Double Parked

Double parking is nothing new in Thailand, but double parking on the side of an elevated highway is a first for me.

With the coming flood, thousands of people have left their cars high and dry on highways, overpasses, and U-turn bridges across the city.  This particular improvised parking lot went on for miles.  I have to wonder how they were able to get back down - unless they had a friend or taxi follow them up.

More Flood Pics

60 Billion Cubic Meters

This is footage taken from an army helicopter.  It starts in central Bangkok then heads northwest to just outside of Bangkok where flooding has started.  Then, it heads further north to some remote villages to toss out rescue packages.

I've read that there are 60 billion cubic meters of water making its way towards Bangkok.  That's difficult to imagine, but this video helps.

Here's Yanni

Guess who's in Bangkok for a concert.

Below are some pictures of the one and only Yanni, who took time to help the Governor of Bangkok fill sandbags to stave off the oncoming flood.

I'm posting this because I have a confession to make - I own a Yanni's greatest hits album.  I can't tell you how great it is because I've never heard the end of the first song, but I highly recommend it for its alternative purpose - as the gateway to instant sub-REM sleep during an afternoon nap.

The Deluge

We're surrounded!!!

The water is coming.  Technically, we're in a low risk area - I've marked our house with a red dot.  But, it's a little too close for comfort.

Thailand Flood Photos

Below are some pics I stole from the web.  These are mostly from upcountry, but Bangkok is next.
