This past weekend, we took a trip to Burma (Myanmar). Our first stop was Mandalay. I can't tell you a thing about it except that it's filled with temples. Usually, my rule is one temple per day when on trips, but that wasn't an option in here. I'll try to recall the significance of each temple/ Buddha, but after a dozen, they all tend to run together.
This was our first stop - apparently, this statue was commissioned for the original Buddha 2500 years ago. Our guide didn't say this, but wouldn't that make it the first? Nuch tells me this was stolen from Thailand.
Not sure where this one is from.
This is one of the 700+ tablets that makes up the world's largest book - telling the story of the Buddha, his teachings, and how to practice Buddhism. Some French guy put it to paper, creating a book with 15,000 pages.
