Thursday was Makha Bucha Day, an important Buddhist holiday that celebrates the day when 1,250 monks all coincidentally showed up at the same time to listen to the Buddha give a sermon.
In a sadistic display of quid pro quo, the Thai government gives everyone a holiday, while banning the sale of alcohol. As part of my traditional Makha Bucha celebration, I set out to find a vendor that would covertly sell me beer. It didn't take long.
