My little neighborhood is a cat haven in the midst of a stray dog apocalypse. Every month or two there's a new litter. Since last September there must have been over two dozen kittens born into this hidden oasis. However, there are only a few remaining - some were adopted, but most ended up on the wrong side of natural selection - ie they wandered outside of the oasis.
There is one that has been here since the beginning and stands out among the rest. She seems to run the place and is simply known as 'The Queen".
