High Hydration

I'm getting there.  This one was as good as any pizza I can get in Thailand.

New Neighbor

This cat adopted our neighbor

How To: Thai Toilets

I think Thailand and most of the rest of the world are on to something with the "Bum Gun".

Red Tape

Our company is 100% export, so we don't pay duty on imported leather.  The problem with this is that 30% of this leather ends up as scrap due to lost yield.  Our monthly total usage is about 500,000 sf, so 30% is 150,000 sf, which means that every month the hides of about 3,000 cows go to waste.

However, instead of going to the landfill, we can sell these bits and pieces to local scrap dealers, who use them to make wallets, key chains, phone covers...  To make sure we're not selling un-taxed hides locally, the Thai Tax Office needs to confirm how much scrap we have to ensure that our books balance.   To prove that we have 30% scrap, they weigh the bags, and then, we must piece together 1 kg samples of scrap, so they can be converted into square feet.

Here's the painstaking job of making a scrap leather puzzle.

Long Haul

Interesting - A while back I passed these ultra long trucks heading to Korat carrying the wind turbine blades

Taste Tested

Nuch and I got some green cantaloupe after our meal at a Japanese restaurant - looks likes someone had a go at it before us.

Pew Pew The 3 Legged Dog

A few months ago my neighbor's dog got through the front gate and was promptly hit by a car.  His back was broken and he could no longer use his hind legs.  Because we're in a Buddhist country, they didn't want to put it to sleep.  Instead, they kept it in the front yard where it just kinda laid on the grass, ate and crapped.

Then, a few days ago I heard this scraping outside and an old familiar yapping.  Pew Pew was up and running again.  I'm not sure whose idea it was, but they put his legs into a water bottle and then, tied the bottle to his body.  Now, Pew Pew plays fetch and chases the neighborhood cats while dragging his backside around like nothing has happened.

River Valley - Mega Bangna

There's a new addition to our local shopping mall - Mega Bangna. They've add a shallow creek that runs through the outer promenade.

This wouldn't work in most places, but since most shoppers are wearing shorts and flip flops it makes for an easy way to cool your feet.

Sour Dough Is A No Go

The Grill Room

One of the better restaurants in Korat had been closed since March, so Nuch and I had a date night soon after they opened.

They're still using all the Covid protocols.  Staff wore face shields and all the silverware came in plastic bags
