Tile Puzzle Parking

Parking spots are always difficult to find, but this was the worst I've yet to see in Bangkok.

This is in the Don Muang airport parking garage.  The normal parking spots have been filled, so the cars that come in afterwards park on either side of the road and effectively block the cars that are parked in the regular spaces.  It looks like a disaster, but in typical Thai fashion it all seems to work.

The cars along the road are all left in neutral, so it becomes one of those tile puzzles where you slide the tiles around to make a picture.  In this case, you need to move cars back and forth to make a space in front of your car.  Usually, you only need to move one car to create  enough space for you to get your car out, but here, it was more like 4 or 5.

Tanah Lot Temple

During our stay in Bali, we spent one day sightseeing.  Our first stop was Tanah Lot.

This wasn't even the main temple.  Will post pictures of that later as well as the rest of the trip.

Volcano Pizza

In Bali, my mom and I saw Volcano pizza on the menu.  We were so tempted to try it.  Fortunately, the table next to us did, so we didn't have to.

CNY 2015

Thailand doesn't miss a chance to celebrate a New Year.  The normal one on January 1st, the Thai New Year in April, and here's the Chinese New Year in February.

Red Oven

My brother-in-law and I share the same birthday, so we celebrated at the Sofitel Sunday Brunch while my mother was here.

Believe it or not, his girlfriend and Nuch also share the same birthday - Dec 1, 1974, which, if you're liberal with your numerology, is nearly the same as Karen's birthday, Dec 11

Perfect Neighbors

Last month, our neighborhood association honored Nuch and I with a small gift and a life-sized poster at the entrance to our village to show their appreciation for the considerate way in which we park our cars.  Not all, but many of our neighbors, simply park along the street instead of pulling into their driveways.  With our narrow lanes, it becomes a bit congested and driving through it can be like traversing an obstacle course.

Unsurprisingly, this positive re-enforcement has done nothing to improve the situation.  Making things worse is the fact that Nuch and I didn't always park in the driveway - there are times when it's late at night, it's raining, or you have to pee, and you just want to get out of the car and get inside, but, now, with our new found notoriety we are shamed into always parking inside.

The other family in the poster was honored for picking up their dog's sh!t.

Super Bowl Breakfast Brunch

The Superbowl starts around 6:30am on a Monday morning in Thailand, so the Conrad Hotel has an annual breakfast brunch with free flow beer, Screwdrivers, and Bloody Mary's to accommodate the American crowd in Bangkok.

Here's my buddy, Stuart with a beer, a Screwdriver, and a Bloody Mary.

Not exactly HD, and they didn't get the commercials, but it was a good time and, thankfully, a good game after last year's blowout.
