Japan - Tokyo!!

So, last weekend I met up with Mike Ryan in Japan.  The second round of our yearly catch ups somewhere in the world.  Last year, Mike was based in Germany, so we met up in London.  He's currently based in Honolulu, so we met in the middle - Tokyo!!

We took in some culture and tested the local food, beer, and sake, but the biggest attraction was the city itself.

Here's the view of Western Tokyo from the Sky Tree Observation Tower

Working on my fear of heights

Tokyo is massive with 20+ million people and multiple districts all with their own characteristics.  I had know idea where to stay, so I picked Shinjuku because it had a hotel with Godzilla on the rooftop

The hotel lobby had a wall filled with all of the Godzilla movie posters

Japan - Culture!!

Japanese culture can be described in two words - Temples and Samurais.

So, we saw a temple

and then, we went to the Samurai museum

Japan - Food!!

When we weren't taking in the local culture, we were eating (or walking around looking for food)

Great beef as expected.  We did BBQ twice.

No trip to Japan is complete without sashimi and sushi

We also had fried mozzarella on a stick.  Japan has a history of taking something great from America and making it better.  No exception here.

The LSU Corn Dogs

About 10 years ago an Auburn fan made the acute observation that LSU fans smell like Corn Dogs.  They just do.

To celebrate Florida's win over the Corn Dogs, I picked up the Thai version of a corn dog on my way up to Korat.  These are more like waffle dogs.

Go Gators!

As usual, Thailand took things one step too far with the coffee flavored corn dog.

This Coffee Tastes Like

About 3 years ago, I posted about 7-Eleven's new coffee brand, ALL Cafe, and a slight problem with its logo.  They wrote the "Ls" to look like piping hot coffee, but you see what I mean...

It's been a while, but apparently, I'm not the only one to have noticed.  Recently, the "Ls" were reversed, and all is well with ALL Cafe
