Scrap Art

I don't know if this is a worldwide phenomenon, but some Thai junkyard owners have a gift for making something out of nothing.

Return To Zurich 2017

The stars were aligned – I had a free weekend, and Nuch had a short trip to Zurich. It had been 7 years since our last visit, so we thought we were due for a return. We left midnight Friday and arrived around 7am Saturday morning.  After a quick nap, we headed out to explore Zurich.

This was the first of many, many selfies. It would have been a decent pic except for that damn mirror.

Downtown was just a short tram ride from our hotel

Similar to our trip in 2010, it rained all day.  You can't see it, but behind the umbrella is one of Zurich's many quaint, medieval cobblestone streets.

I have a rule when I join Nuch on one of her flights - we must do at least one thing cultural.  To get this requirement off of our list, we took some pictures in front of this church.

After getting our fill of Swiss culture, it was time to eat.  The first stop was a touristy, yet tasty, German-styled restaurant where I tried a selection of sausages - and beers

After lunch, we walked towards the lake and came across a hotdog stand where we had snacked back in 2010.

Here we are next to the same hotdog stand back in 2010.  On last weekend's trip, I was upgraded to business class and slept most of the way, which may explain why the 2017 version of me looks a bit fresher than the 2010 version - not to mention, photo-editing technology.

Here’s 2017 Nuch and 2010 Nuch in front of the lakeside flower clock

To get off our feet and get out of the rain, we took a boat trip around Lake Zurich (extra culture)

This old couple makes me wonder if we’ll be back again in 20 years

Sausages were for lunch.  For dinner, it was cheese and more cheese.  I chose raclette over fondue.

Raclette is basically fondue, but instead dipping your bread or potatoes in the cheese, you dump the cheese on top of your bread or potatoes.

This was round two

And that was it.  We were jet-lagged and back at the hotel by 9pm.  After a good night’s sleep and a quick workout in the morning, we were ready to head back to Bangkok.  Just 24 hours, but like the old couple on the boat, I’m sure we’ll be back.
