Sheraton Grande Jazz Brunch

This past Sunday, Nuch and I joined some friends, wives and girlfriends for the Sheraton's all you can eat/ drink Jazz Brunch.

Mark was falling behind on his Tom Collins, Prosecco, Whiskey Sour, something, and Bailey's on ice

For some reason, Alabama's Big Al showed up

This was taken moments after Stuart's wife, Pang, heard the full story of the post-Super Bowl golf cart incident.

5th And 6th Cycles

I've kept in touch with one of my former colleagues, Stu, who recently turned 72 - his 6th cycle of 12 years, if you're into Buddhist astrology.  His wife just turned 60 (her 5th cycle), so they had a big party.

Here he is singing (quite well, I might add) Always On My Mind.

Tradition

Nationalism never looked so good.

Along with other nationalistic policies, the current Junta is attempting to instate Traditional Silk Dress Friday.

Chinese Appetizers

I took this picture outside a restaurant in Shenzhen.

I'm sure these puppies weren't on the menu, but in China - you never know.

Facebook Fatigue

The other night I went to bed and found Nuch sound asleep with her finger on her Samsung in mid "Like"

Hot Dog

Signs that it's the hottest and longest Hot Season that I can remember.

Low Cost Manufacturer

I recently discovered one of the ways China keeps their prices so low.

Here are some pictures of the dormitory at my factory.  This is the manager's room, so it's the nice one.

I can't imagine having to work all day with a group of people, then coming home to eat, live, and sleep with them.

This is the bathroom sink.  I was too embarrassed to take a picture of the toilet.

Tipping Point

Recently, Tipper's belly became just large enough that she tends to tip over when she falls into a deep sleep.

Peace Corps Thailand 20 Year Anniversary

2015 is the 20th anniversary of my first trip to Thailand with the Peace Corps.  Some of the 30+ volunteers in my group plan to have a reunion at a National Park in the US.  Carl and I will probably celebrate on Kao San Rd.

Good To See You, Too

After a week-long trip to China, I picked the wrong restaurant for Nuch and I to catch up.

If you're wondering - the smoke vacuum descends from the ceiling, and needs to be at eye level (for someone 6'2") to be effective.

Savannakhet Visa Run

A few weeks ago, I had to go to the Thai Consulate in Lao to update my marriage visa.  Here are a few random pics.

Instead of a Croque Monsieur, I tried the Croque Madame.  The only difference is the Croque Madame has an egg on top.  I was well through my meal before I decided that was kinda gross.

Guarding the entrance to Cafe Chez Boune are two 6' penguins.

I know it sounds cliche, but Beer Lao just tastes better in Lao

Here's a video of a tuk-tuk ride along the Mekong river.

Chinese Circle Of Death

The Chinese idea of an enjoyable evening is sitting at a round table, clinking shot glasses of rice whiskey, and telling each other how important their friendship is.  This cycle, then, continues for hours.

It's not the whiskey that will kill you - it's the boredom.

Temple Of The Chicken

Some pictures from Nuch's visit to a temple where people like to donate statues of chickens for good luck.

Sanctuary Of Truth

These are from my mom's trip back in 2014.

This temple is made entirely from teak wood.
