Veggie Burger

Not bad, but not cheap. I'll stick to the real thing for now...

Mystery Meats

On a recent trip to the local market, I came across some special cuts of cow.  As I've said many times in Thailand - just because you can eat something, it doesn't mean you should.

Tripe (I think this is stomach lining)

Omasum (a cow's 3rd stomach)

Tongues

I'll just call these innards.

Tragedy In Korat

Korat made world headlines last month when a man stormed into the Terminal 21 shopping Mall and started shooting random people.

Farewell Tipper

Tipper had been sick for a while and finally passed this morning.    I'm in Korat, so Nuch took care of the funeral.

Although she was as temperamental, fickle, and irreverent as any cat, Tipper was as close to a dog as a cat could ever be.  I don't think it will set in until I'm back in Bangkok and she's not there to meet me at the door or sit on my lap as I watch TV.  She and Kittie truly made our house a home.

Corona Pizzaria

I plan to be eating at home more often over the next few weeks, so I've started working on my homemade pizzas.

This was my first one - cheese great.  Crust not so good

#2 - the crust was much better. Cheese and pepperoni were great

#3 - I made this with our oven in Bangkok.  Something went wrong with the crust, which came out like cardboard.  Cheese and pepperoni were great

#4 - probably my best crust so far.  I try to use extra hydration to make the crust lighter.  Cheese was great as usual

Gastown Vancouver

When I first started planning my trip to the US, I thought I would fly into Vancouver to visit Nathan at school. For a number of reasons that's not going to happen anytime soon.

However, I've been getting a sneak preview from the treadmill at my gym. The screen has a program that shows a video as if you're running through a forest, a national park, or in this case, "Gastown" in downtown Vancouver.

Chef Paul's Mega Bangna

Our side of town is known for it's factories and industry, but no more - a Chef Paul's opened up a while ago, so Nuch and I finally gave it a try.

Thai Air Corona

Here's a pic of Nuch on a recent flight.

She has applied for leave without pay for the next 3 months, so she can avoid those flying petri dishes.

Traditional Birthday Fishing Trip

For my 48th birthday, Nuch had me celebrate by releasing some fish from the market.

These monster-sized prawns weren't so lucky.
