Emprive Executive Movie Theatre

After our brunch, I tried to convince Nuch to see Rogue One, but she had no interest.  Instead, she went for a manicure, and I treated myself to the Emporium's Executive theatre, Emprive.

It's only $10 for a ticket, but the seats are huge and there's an executive lounge where you wait for the film to start.  This was much appreciated because there were 30 minutes of advertisements, previews, and stuff for the king.

I thought the theater seats were nice, but the toilets seats were next level - complete with movable bidet and a blow dryer.

Apparently, this is a "washlet" not a toilet.

At Love Again

This restaurant may look familiar...

Sushi Tsunami

My new go to lunch spot is a Sushi restaurant near my factory.  I don't know how they do it, but each massive dish only costs about $4.  I've been there 3 times already and everything tastes fresh.  At these prices, I'll continue to go until I get sick or am diagnosed with Mercury poisoning.

Bird Watching

Tipper likes to sit at the back window and imagine chasing birds.  We can't let her out because we're afraid she'll jump the fence and maybe even catch one of the birds.  The final solution was getting a cat leash.

Spare Change

After 15 years of charging extortionate interest rates on a government-guaranteed loan, sending me a check for $.08 was literally the least my Student Loan company could do when I overpaid on my final payment.

German Sausage

There's a German restaurant behind my condo in Korat.  I'll go there every week or two for pizza, sausages, or something besides rice.

It's run by a German guy and his Thai wife and is frequented by the local German expats.  It's a small place with just 8 or so tables, which are often full on a Friday or Saturday evening.  In Korat, I'm used to being the only white guy at a restaurant, but being the only American surrounded by German's is a new feeling.

The point of this story is so I could post a picture of the imported mustard and its unique, toothpaste tube packaging.

Creepy KFC

This pic was making the rounds on the Thai internet recently.  More gruesome than clever, it will keep me away from KFC for a while.

I must add - when Thais say that the meat tastes better closer to the bone, they mean it.

Long Live The King

In our memories...

King Rama IX passed away in October, but December 5th would have been his birthday.  Here are some pics of the mourning ceremony.

For a month everyone was asked to wear black - even department store mannequins.

Similar to the good luck colors for cars, this guy posted a sign that says "this shirt is black.  I love the king".  There were reports of some people being attacked because they didn't look or act mournful enough...
