Half-way into a recent week-long trip to China, I could not take another bite of Chinese food, and found myself craving some home cookin'. Opposed to the typical Chinese artery cloggers, I needed some proper American grease, so I ordered a Godfather's Special from the hotel room service.
hmmm......
The first thing I noticed was that there was no crust along the edge. Apparently, it had been burnt beyond edibleness and had been trimmed off. The cheese had been charred to a black, plastic film, but was left on to keep the rain off. The look and feel of the crust suggested that this pizza was not made today, and perhaps, it was not even the first time it had been offered up as a meal.
So, you can understand how desperate I was for some western food, when I still ate it.
