State Of Emergency

Last night Nuch and I ventured down to Silom Rd to get a taste of the city life after moving out to the country. Seems a lot has been going on since we left.

On the day that we moved there was a riot and 20+ protesters and soldiers were killed. Since then, there's been a state of emergency in place, where soldiers patrol the streets and razor wire and barricades block important thoroughfares.

Like everything else, Thais find a way to make a party out of it. Here are some pictures I took as we walked through Bangkok's major business and shopping district.

It was all fun and games - almost like a tourist attraction, but this morning I read that there was a drive by shooting just up the street from where this picture was taken, and two policemen were killed.

I was going to take a picture of the razor wire and barricade that was set up outside the bar we went to, but noticed a rat casually nibbling on trash in the gutter. I took 3 or 4 pictures with a flash and the thing never even flinched.
