After a morning at Wat Po, we spent the afternoon touring some of the local canals with a stop off at Wat Arun or Temple of the Sun.
This little girl sold us our boat tickets.
Here's the long-tailed boat that we rented. It's not in the picture, but the "long tail" is about 15 feet long with this bus engine attached to the end. I'm sure the Thais know what they're doing, but there's gotta be a better design for a boat. It's almost like someone said - all we have is a flag pole and an old bus. Now, make a boat.
Here, we are crossing the Chao Phraya with Wat Pra Gaew or the Royal Palace in the background.
Here's a video of life along the banks of Bangkok's canals.
At one point we stopped to feed the fish - massive river carp. Here's a video.
Scam Alert! At the bottom of these wooden dolls is a 3 inch sign that says, "40 B". As soon as an unsuspecting tourist snaps a picture, some guy jumps out from around the corner to collect his ill-gotten fee. I hope he comes back as a sewer rat.
Back on the Bangkok side of the river, we came across a cool little market with all sorts of goodies.
The dried squid were not so good and their stench followed us for a block.
Just off the pier we saw this super dog, who seemed to enjoy the front seat when scooting around with his owner.
