-Corn and ice cream
This past weekend I discovered a new addition to the list.
Saturday evening Nuch was in Japan, so I spent the evening watching Thai soap operas with her mother. Thai soaps are painfully addictive - in the sense that you're constantly at battle with yourself as to which is more pathetic - the script or the fact that you are continuing to watch. The best part of Thai soaps is Nuch's mother's play by play, along with in-depth analysis and commentaty on the decline of civilization, represented by the saucy lives of the soap opera characters. I agreed with her 100%, as I enjoyed my single malt.
When the soaps were finally finished, Nuch's mom came out from the kitchen with a late night snack and a big smile. First, you must know that Nuch's mom is a relatively accomplished cook - when it comes to Thai food. In her younger years she even ran a small restaurant and I think she ran the kitchen at the Thai Embassy in Italy, where she eventually met Nuch's dad.
However, her taste in western food is a bit eccentric. On her birthday last year, we took her to an Italian restaurant (thinking it would bring back memories of her time spent in Italy). She ordered the minestrone soup, but gave careful instructions to the waiter to hold the pasta, and then, to add shrimp, coconut milk, and some Thai spices, which magically becomes the famous Thai dish - 'Tom Yam Gung'. She won't drink beer for fear of getting drunk, however, she does enjoy the foam.
So, I wasn't too surprised to see her newest creation - Kraft Cheese and Banana.
This is what it tastes like.
